Report Fraud

If you believe or suspect that you have been the victim of some type of fraud, don’t wait any longer. Remember, every minute counts! Your financial future depends on you taking action.

Follow these steps, and immediately report if you are a victim of:

Identity Theft

1. Contact a credit reporting agency and ask them to put a “fraud alert” on your credit file. Don’t forget to ask for a copy, since this could serve as important evidence later on. Contact:

  • EQUIFAX
    To report fraud, call: 1-800-525-6285
  • EXPERIAN
    To request a credit report, call: 1-888-397-3742
  • TRANSUNION
    To request a credit report, call: 1-800-916-8800

2. Go to your nearest police station and file a police report. Don’t forget to request a copy.

3. Write a letter and immediately mail it to the creditors of each account that you believe has been forged or opened illegally. Inform them of the facts and close the accounts. Include a copy of the police report.

4. If you suspect that someone has made unauthorized transactions using any of your Banco Popular accounts immediately contact TeleBanco Popular®, at 787-724-3659 or 1-888-724-3659.

Internet Fraud

This practice is increasingly common. If you think you have been a victim of Internet Fraud, contact the Internet Banking Support Group immediately:

Unauthorized Transactions

If you believe you have been a victim of an unauthorized transaction, in your Banco Popular checking account or credit card, take immediate action. For:
